Location - Take It Easy Lab
This full day workshop is perfect if you’re just starting out using film cameras and want to feel more confident and comfortable making pictures on film.
We will spend the morning looking at some film cameras and working out which tool is best for you to make the pictures you want to make. We will also demystify the terrifying terms… aperture, shutter speed, and ISO in an accessible and creative way, diving into a range of photo-books and work by other established photographers.
After the morning class, we’ll put what we’ve discussed into practice and take a short photo walk around Leeds, with your tutor, Dan, helping you make pictures every step of the way. This is a chance to dispel any of those worries you may have about using film and an opportunity to ask any questions you may previously have been embarrassed to ask!
We will provide you with a roll of film for the photo walk too, so you don’t need to bring anything.
When we return back to the space, we’ll drop the film in to be processed and printed whilst we eat some lunch (not provided, please bring a sarnie). After lunch, we will all take a look at the negatives and prints from our photo walk and share our pictures. This will help us work out what we’re doing wrong and, more importantly, what we’re doing right!
You will leave the workshop with a processed roll of film, a set of prints, and a newfound confidence in using a camera - with the knowledge to make pictures using film.
