A quick guide
E6 is the process used for colour reversal film, also known as slide or transparency film. Unlike ordinary colour negative film, the developed film itself contains a positive colour image.
Unlike C41, which gives you an orange coloured negative, E6 produces the finished positive colour image directly on the film itself.
Colour reversal film is often called slide film or transparency film. They all describe film designed to produce a positive image after processing.
E6 and C41 are different developing processes. If your colour film is marked E-6, reversal, transparency or slide film, it needs E6 processing.
If your film is marked E-6, slide, transparency or colour reversal, this is the developing process it needs. Standard colour negative film marked C-41 uses our Colour Film Developing service instead.

Medium is the best all round choice for most people. Choose Low for smaller, easy to share files or High JPG and TIFF when you want more room for printing, cropping or editing.
Small and easy to share
Ideal when you mainly want your photographs for your phone, social media or quick online sharing.
Best all rounder
A great balance of detail and file size. This is the one we’d choose for most everyday film photography.
More detail, still simple
Choose High JPG when you want a larger file for cropping, bigger prints or more detailed editing without moving to TIFF.

E6 turnaround
E6 follows a different processing schedule from our standard C41 and black and white services, so allow a little longer for these orders.
We’ll email you when your film is booked in and again when your finished scans are ready.

E6 is the process used to develop colour reversal film, commonly known as slide or transparency film. The developed film contains a positive colour image rather than a negative.
Check the cassette, box or film packaging. If it says E-6, colour reversal, slide or transparency film, this is the service you need.
No. C41 produces colour negatives, while E6 produces positive transparencies. They use different developing processes.
The image appears in its normal colours directly on the film. Hold the developed transparency up to a light source and you can see the finished positive photograph.
