Film character

The look

A quick idea of what to expect before you load a roll.

Colour & tone Gritty, classic tonality

Bold blacks and a traditional range of greys work well with the film's more textured look.

Grain Pronounced grain

Texture is a clear part of the image and gives the film plenty of character.

Contrast Balanced

A useful middle ground with detail retained through highlights and shadows.

From the lab

Why we like it

We like Fomapan 400 for its rougher, older-school character. It is not trying to be ultra clean, and that visible grain is a big part of the appeal.
