Out with the Old, In with the New: Meet Our Upgraded B&W Film Processor
Big news from inside the lab— a couple weeks back, we officially said goodbye to our standard black and white developer and wecomed an upgraded workhorse into our workflow: a newly converted Noritsu V30 🧪
This isn't just a machine swap. It's a major step forward in how we handle your film. With manually integrated speed control (photographed below), the Noritsu V30 gives us full command over development times. That means we can now process all of our black and white film in-house, including those tricky push and pull rolls that used to require outsourcing or additional wait times.
Why the Upgrade?
Our previous setup was reliable but limited. Standard B&W processing left little room for flexibility, especially when it came to custom development requests. We wanted a solution that could:
- Handle higher volume without sacrificing quality
- Allow precise control over processing speeds and chemistry
- Make pushes, pulls a regular part of our B/W service
- Keep everything in-house to reduce turnaround times and give us more control over results
Enter the Noritsu V30..
This machine, typically used for C-41 colour film, has been carefully converted by our team to run black and white chemistry. With our modifications, including manual speed control, it’s now perfectly suited for a wide range of B&W stocks and development styles.
What Does This Mean for You?
Whether you’re a seasoned shooter who knows exactly how you want your Tri-X pushed, or someone experimenting with new emulsions, this upgrade means more consistency, faster turnaround, and more creative freedom for your black and white work.
Pushed your HP5 to 1600? No problem. Pulled your Delta 100? We’ve got you. And since it's all done under our roof, we can monitor every step of the process to ensure you get the best results possible.
Want to take full advantage of our upgraded black and white processing? Be sure to include your developing preferences—like push/pull info or any special requests—in the notes section when placing your order on our website. That’s the first thing our developers see when your film hits the bench, and it ensures we process your roll exactly the way you want. Head to our Black & White Film Developing page to get started.
