Welcome to your local indie film lab

We’re Take It Easy, a family-run indie film lab based in Leeds. Founded in September 2020 by cousins Liam Henry and Joe Singleton, along with partner Nick Baines, we’ve grown into a close-knit team of friends who’ve developed hundreds of thousands of rolls of film.

We offer both mail-order and drop-in services, and we’re all about delivering the best possible film experience to everyone. But we’re more than just a lab — we’re an inclusive community space where photographers of all levels can connect, learn, and grow through events, talks, and shared resources.

Whether you're just starting out or have years behind the lens, we’re here to support you and be the lab you can rely on.

A film lab focused on community

At Take It Easy, we’re all about building a welcoming and creative community—and we do that in all kinds of ways.

Each month, we host workshops at our Leeds lab, including photo socials where you can share your work, connect with others, and get inspired. These socials aren’t about harsh critique—they’re supportive, encouraging spaces where we help each other grow and develop our practices in a positive way.

We also run introductory workshops on film photography, covering everything you need to know to get started with film cameras. Whether you're completely new to film or just looking to learn the basics, these sessions are a great place to begin.

On top of that, we organise photo walks, social events, exhibitions, and more—always with the goal of bringing people together through a shared love of photography.

Sponsors of The Photographer's Gallery Develop program

Take It Easy Lab is proud to be sponsors of The Photographers Gallery Develop program.

The Develop program aims to support and commission emerging creatives aged 18-24 through a series of workshops and talks around Photography.

Doing our bit for the environment

From our experience working in film labs, we were aware of the large amount of waste produced during film processing.

To make our lab as sustainable as possible, we use a Metafix filtration system that safely filters chemicals, allowing waste to be safely disposed of. This system also recovers silver, which is then repurposed for use in jewelry, cutlery, and other items.

The proceeds from these silver sales are donated to MAP, a Leeds-based charity that provides alternative education for young people unable to attend mainstream schools. Additionally, we supply plastic film canisters to the creative teams at Brothers Make and Mull Club, where they are melted down and transformed into new products available for purchase. Lastly, all disposable cameras sent to us are forwarded to Swains for recycling.
